Most Upcoming PC Games of 2017 to 2018

top 10 upcoming game 2017
Most Upcoming PC Games of 2017
We've already seen some of the best game releases ever in 2017, including Horizon Zero Dawn and Zelda for the all-new Nintendo Switch. But there's still plenty to come in 2017 and we can't wait.

Lots of great-looking PS4 and Xbox One games are coming, as well as some PC and Nintendo gems. In order of release date, these are the games we're most excited about for 2017 and beyond.

1. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

uncharted 2017

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Release date: 23 August 2017
Platforms: PS4
Pre-order from amazon:Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - PlayStation 4

This is a bit of a funny one, because we're not entirely sure if it should count as a full game. Still, Uncharted 4 was one of the best titles out in 2016, and the idea of more from the same world is enough to get us excited no matter what. Lost Legacy leaves Nathan Drake behind to follow Chloe instead, in a stand-alone game (you won't need Uncharted 4 to play it) that's somewhere between DLC and a full title.

Find out more in our Uncharted: The Lost Legacy news and rumours round-up.

2. Destiny 2

destiny 2
Destiny 2
Release date: 8 September 2017
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Pre-order from amazon: Destiny 2 - PlayStation 4 Standard Edition

Bungie officially announced the sequel to its hit MMOFPS Destiny in March 2017. The game will have a “great cast of memorable, relatable characters” as well as a “cinematic storyline,” and is set to be more accessible for players who want a "more casual first-person experience.”

The original Destiny has improved dramatically with expansions after a rocky start, so hopefully developer Bungie can build on that to produce a truly great sequel.

3. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Marvel vs Capcom

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Release date: 19 September 2017
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Pre-order from Amazon:Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite - PlayStation 4 Standard Edition

It's been five years since they last clashed, but Marvel and Capcom's finest are at it again in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. The 2v2 fighter pits superheroes up against videogame legends, and will see them join forces in a new cinematic Story Mode.

This game has also thrown Marvel's Infinity Stones into the mix as a new power-up mechanic to help encourage comebacks and more tactical play.

4. Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Shadow of War

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Release date: 10 October 2017
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Pre-order from Amazon: Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War - PlayStation 4

The 2014 hit Shadow of Mordor is getting a sequel later this year that promises to be bigger, better, and broodier. Like the first game, it's set in between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will see you tasked with sneaking around Sauron's armies picking fights and spreading dissent, with the ultimate goal of turning his own forces against him.

Expect a big expansion to the first game's Nemesis system, with the new Followers and Nemesis Fortresses to make every playthrough even more personalized than before.

5. Project Cars 2

5. Project Cars 2017
Project Cars 2
Release date: 2017
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

The follow-up to 2015's surprise racing game hit, Project Cars 2 promised much of the same, except bigger, faster, and shinier. The announcement promised 170+ cars and 60+ tracks, including some newly scanned from real-world courses.

Other new features include dynamic weather and online competitive leagues, but the real draw is the new support of both VR and 12K output - though good luck building a PC beefy enough to output 4K to three monitors at once.

Find out more about the game in our Project Cars 2 news round-up.

6. Call of Duty WW2

Cod WW2
Call of Duty WW2
Release date: 3 November 2017
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One
Pre-order from Amazon:

One of the biggest games of the year will without-doubt be Call of Duty WW2, which looks set to take the series back to its roots with gritty, intense gunplay and a completely rethought multiplayer experience.

Find out more about Call of Duty WW2 here.

7. The Crew 2

The Crew 2
The Crew 2
Release date: TBC 2017
Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4

Ubisoft teased that driving game The Crew's sequel, The Crew 2 is in the works during its annual earnings call earlier this year. We expect to hear loads more about it during Ubisoft's E3 press conference on 12 June, so be sure to tune in to C3 for the latest news.

You can find out more news of The Crew 2 from here.

8. God of War 5

God of War
God of War
Release date: TBC 2017
Platforms: PS4

God of War kicked off Sony's E3 2016 conference in June, which is a sure sign that this is going to be a highly-anticipated new game. It's set to bring completely reimagined gameplay mechanics for fans of the series, with a fresh perspective.

9. Metal Gear Survive

Metal Gear Survive
Metal Gear Survive
Release date: TBC 2017
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

There was a lot of concern from fans when Konami announced Metal Gear Survive, the first Metal Gear game since creator Hideo Kojima left the company to make Death Stranding.

To be fair, Survive looks like a major departure for the franchise, as a co-op action survival game, and it's understandable that fans are concerned.

On the other hand, it also looks like it could be a lot of fun, and early hands-on reports have been very positive. We're staying optimistic about this one.

10. State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2
State of Decay 2
Release date: TBC 2017
Platforms: Xbox One, PC

This sequel to the 2013 zombie survival game is coming to Xbox One and PC through the Xbox Play Anywhere system, and is basically the closest you'll be able to get to a massive, open-world, co-op The Walking Dead game anytime soon.

11. Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5
Far Cry 5
Release date: 27 February 2018
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Far Cry 5 sees a big shift to the long-running franchise, for the first time taking it away from exotic locales and towards somewhere more familiar (at least in the West): rural Montana.

The bad guys this time are a right-wing Christian nationalist cult, which has already ruffled plenty of feathers in the US, but otherwise expect more of the usual Far Cry running, gunning, and exploring.

12. Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead 2
Red Dead Redemption 2
Release date: Spring 2018
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One

Arguably the most exciting gaming news to come out of 2016 is the announcement that Red Dead Redemption 2 is official and will be arriving on consoles early in 2018.

13. Assassin's Creed: Origins

Assassin's Creed 2017
Assassin's Creed: Origins
Release date: TBC
Platforms: TBC

We don't know much for sure about the next Assassin's Creed (even its title is just a rumour), but we do know there's one on the way, and we're still expecting it to arrive some time in 2017 - even if Ubisoft has warned it might slip to 2018.

It looks likely to be set in ancient Egypt, and should be enhancing the series' open world and procedural elements even more than ever before, which sounds pretty good to us.

Find out more in our round-up of rumours about the game.

14. The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us Part II
The Last of Us Part II
Release date: TBC
Platforms: PS4

This one's a bit of a fudge, because right now we have no idea if The Last of Us Part II will be coming out in 2017 at all, and it could well not arrive until 2018.

But we're so excited about the prospect of revisiting Joel and Ellie that the game is making it onto this list regardless. The first game was big-budget gaming at its absolute best, pairing tense horror and action with believable, sincere character drama.

Check out the first trailer for The Last of Us 2 right here.

15. Spider-Man PS4

Spider-Man 2017
Spider-Man PS4
Release date: TBC
Platforms: PS4

The next Spider-Man game won't be tied directly to Marvel's new Spider-Man: Homecoming film, but it looks pretty great regardless. Or at least the cinematic trailer did, because that's all we've seen of it so far.

Still, the PS4 exclusive is being made by Insomniac Games, the creators of Ratchet & Clank and the Resistance games, so there's good reason to be optimistic.

Watch the Spider-Man PS4 trailer for yourself.

16. Darksiders 3

Darksiders 3
Darksiders 3
Release date: 2018
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

The game's publisher went bankrupt, and its developer shut down, but you just can't keep Darksiders 3 down. After THQ Nordic picked up the rights, it recruited a few of the original devs (now re-formed as Gunfire Games) to make the threequel.

This time around you're Fury, working through a ruined Earth to kill the Seven Deadly Sins. It's all as over the top as you'd expect from Darksiders, and promises to be plenty of fun.

Find out more in our Darksiders 3 news round-up.

17. The Avengers Project

The Avengers 2017
The Avengers Project
Release date: TBC
Platforms: TBC

This is another one that we know next to nothing about, but that hasn't stopped us from getting childishly excited about it. Square Enix and Marvel have announced a partnership that will see the publisher work on multiple games with the superhero license, including at least one starring the Avengers. Beyond that, we don't know much, and realistically we won't for a while. We do know that it's being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, the teams responsible for the recent Tomb Raider and Deus Ex games respectively, which is a pretty good sign.

18. Absolver

Absolver
Absolver
Release date: August 29, 2017

More than a little odd, Absolver is about punching - simple enough so far - but to a degree almost no game ever is. You can customise your fighting style, your combos, the way your character moves, all in the hope of creating a build an opponent can’t defeat in 1v1 online combat. It made a splash on first announcement during E3 2016 and looks like it could be an early contender for indie smash hit of the year.

19. Dirt 4

Dirt 4
Dirt 4
Release date: June 9, 2017

The latest in the series that grew from the venerable Colin McRae Rally badge, Dirt's focus on rally driving offers racing fans something a bit different. Developers Codemasters have been doing this a very long time now, and with a brand new track generator to add to all the off-roading fun, Dirt 4 looks set to be the most full-featured yet.

20. Need for Speed: Payback

NFS Payback

Need for Speed: Payback

Release date: November 10, 2017

Need for Speed's going more than a little bit Fast & Furious between the imaginative car heists and 'family' of thieves and fast drivers. Exactly what that looks like in-play we don't know yet, but maybe it could follow the quality graph of the films and finally become amazing after so many attempts? We'll see at E3.

21. Vampyr

Vampyr

Vampyr

Release date: TBC 2017

The first game for feels-central developer Dontnod to release after Life is Strange is, obviously, about consuming the flesh of the living for sustenance. Vampyr casts you as a recently-vampirised doctor in 1918, just as Spanish Flu is really starting to mess Europe up. London is the setting, dark is the tone and surviving is the plan, while trying not to destroy all sense of civilization in Britain’s capital. Good luck.

check out the game's news, trailer and gameplay.

22. Death Stranding

Death Stranding

Death Stranding

Realease date: TBC 2017

Nobody knows what's going on with Death Stranding, probably not even Hideo Kojima. We're not even sure it's coming to PC as well as its Sony-funded home, but it is mad as a box of frogs and that just makes us want to tell you about it. The Mads Mikkelsen trailer reinforced this after the initial reveal, and honestly we can't wait for more. Doesn't even matter if it never comes out.

23. The Evil Within 2

Evil Within 2
The Evil Within 2
Release date: 13 October 2017
Available to pre-order from: Amazon
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

The Evil Within 2 was leaked earlier by an official reddit ad. It was confirmed to be directed by Shinji Mikami and while there is no confirmation of it in the official reveal trailer, we did get a look at some short teases of gameplay and a release date this year, which shows that the game is pretty far off in development.

24. F1 2017
